Synthetic Canopies

Commissioned by City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, 2008/2011

The winning entry for an invited competition for a permanent public art project. Project includes a shade canopy located above a commercial parking structure along with designed lighting, seating, and streetcapse elements along the historic Sunset Boulevard. A series of clustered aluminum cylinder components create artificial tree-like shade structures situated throughout a new neighborhood park.

Fabrication begins 2011.
